In pediatrics, this procedure is performed on infants, children, and teenagers. During the procedure, a thin, flexible catheter is inserted into a blood vessel in the arm, groin, or neck and then guided through the vessels and into the heart. Doctors can measure the pressure and flow of blood in the heart and check for any abnormalities or defects.
