Legg-Calve-Perthes disease, also known as Perthes disease, is a condition that affects the hip joint in children. It occurs when the blood supply to the femoral head (top of the thigh bone) is temporarily disrupted, leading to a loss of blood flow and subsequent bone death. This can cause pain, stiffness, and limited mobility in the hip joint.
Symptoms
Pain in the hip or groin #1
A Limp
Limited range of motion
Muscle weakness.
Affects children between the ages of 4 and 10
More common in boys than girls.
Treatment
Rest for 4 to 8 weeks
Physical therapy
Medication to manage pain and inflammation.
In some cases, surgery may be necessary to realign the hip joint and prevent further damage.
 Most clients fully recover and resume normal activities.
