Strawberry Hemangioma

  • A birthmark in the form of tiny vessels under the skin
  • Depending on location, it is benign
  • Superficial hemangiomas will reach final size by 5 months of age.
  • Deeper hemangiomas will continue to grow until 6-18 months and slowly improve. 

Treatment

  • Propanolol- a beta blocker that can make vessels narrower to decrease the size of the hemangiomas
  • Steroid injections directly into the hemangioma to slow growth
  • Surgerical removal
  • Laser treatments
